EXAMINATION
College holds examination for the council of Higher Secondary Education, Orissa and the University at the end of the academic year and class examinations to
promote the 1st year students to the 2nd year classes.
Council of Higher Secondary Education
The council of Higher Secondary Education, Orissa has changed the course structure and scheme of studies for +2 classes from the session 2007-09.
So the college has changed the same accordingly.
According to the new course structure there shall be one examination to be conducted by the College at the end of 1st year basing on the curriculum
meant for that year and one examination at the end of 2nd year to be conducted by the Council basing on the curriculum meant for that year alone.
Pass certificates will be awarded to successfull candidates-basing on the performances in the Council examination be held at the end of 2nd year only.
The examination at the end of the 1st year shall be for 700 marks(including) 100 marks for Environmental Education and the examination at the end of
2nd year shall be for 600 marks. Marks secured in the examination to be conducted at the end of the 1st year shall be considered for promotion of
students to the 2nd year class.
Besides English and MIL., Environmental Education (EE) & Yoga is a compulsory subject. But Environmental Education will be taught only in the 1st
year and examination for Environmental Education will be conducted by the college at the end of the 1st year.
Restriction on selection of optional subjects will be the main feature in the new course structure.There shall be no extra optional subject.
Instead each student has to offer four elective subjects as detailed.
Subjects of Higher Secondary Education:
Besides the compulsory subjects like 1. English MIL. and 2. Environmental Education, a candidate shall offer any four
elective subjects from any of the grouping under 3. A or B or C.
Duration of course: The syllabi for 2 year course of each subject shall be divided into two parts, namely 1st year and
2nd year course carrying 100 marks each. The college will conduct one examination at the end of the 1st year class of +2 course and the Council will
conduct the examination at end of the 2nd year class of course. The result of a candidate will be determined – only on the performance of the
candidate in the Council examination to be held at the end of the 2nd year course.
The pass criteria: The pass criteria for examination shall be as follows:
a) Subjects with Practical: 30% of the total marks shall be diverted for practical examinations and the remaining 70% thereof, for theory. A candidate
has to pass separately in theory and practical. Pass marks in Biology shall be calculated taking together marks secured in both Botany and Zoology.
b) Pass marks shall be 30% of the total marks in theory paper & 40% of the total marks in practical paper in each subject with 35% of the total marks
in the aggregate.

Provided that Council may in special circumstances permit a candidate to offer alternative paper in English of a Higher standard than required in
(a) above in lieu of M.I.L paper, stating reasons, provided further that a candidate may be permitted to take up for the Higher Secondary Examination
one of the subject as M.I.L under
(b) above without attendance at Lecture in the subject if the instituiton in which he is admitted is not affiliated in that subject.
Environmental Education(EE)
Notes: The above subject will be assessed at the college level for 100 marks (70 marks for theory and 30 marks for project work at the end of 1st year
of +2 course & the grades (A, B, C & D in oredr of merit) are to be awarded by the college and the same shall be recorded in the body of the pass
certificate given by the Council subsequently. The grade by the Council subsequently. The grade secured in the Environmental Education(EE) will not
affect the rest of the candidate.

+2 Vocational Stream
Government Vocational Junior College, Ganjam is attached to Ganjam College, Ganjam which also imparts the education on Vocational Courses being
affiliated to Council of Higher Secondary Education, Orissa, Bhubaneswar. Students passing out from Board of Secondary Education, Orissa,
Cuttack CSE/ CBSE are to take admission in the college. There are two trades where students have to be admitted for the Purpose.
Trade 1- Inland Fisheries
Trades 2- Accountancy & Management
The Course for the above two trades are as follows and the intake capacity. For each trades is minimum of 8 students. Principal has the every right
to take decision with regards to admission and it can not be claimed as a matter of right.
The Students has to be examined by the CHSE(O) in the Second year of +2 Course with 1000 marks as per the following schedule.
2. MIL- 100 marks
3. General-100 marks
4. Basic foundation Course- 100 marks
5. Trades Theory Paper 1-100 marks
7. Trades Theory Paper 3-100 marks
8. Trades Practical Paper 1-100 marks
9. Trades Practical Paper 2-100 marks
10. Trades Practical Paper 3-100 marks
A part form these students have to appear the test and Promotion examination conducted by the College.
Fees and Subscription:
Every student admitted for the Purpose has to deposit the admission fees and examination fees as Prescribed by the Government and CHSE (O) from
time to time.
The students of 2nd year H.S. Arts, Science and +3 second year Arts, Science and Commerce are required to appear in
the following examinations conducted by the college.
a) PRE- TEST EXAMINATION
b) TEST EXAMINATION
The students of 1st year H.S. Arts, Science are required to appear in the following examinations conducted by the
college.
a) FIRST TERMINAL EXAMINATION
b) ANNUAL EXAMINATION
The students will be sent up for the University and H.S examinations or prompted to the 2nd year classes of +2 & +3
primarily on the basis of marks obtained in the college examinations. No student shall be sent up or promoted unless he/she secures the minimum
number of marks prescribed by the University or Council in each and every subject. However the rules are subject to change from time to time.
Students who have not been sent up to appear at the Annual University Examination will have to appear in one more test
for consideration of their cases so to allow them for appearing in the University Examinations of the year.
Any case of malpractice in any college examination will be taken serious notice of and the candidate indulged in
malpractice shall be penalized with a fine of Rs. 251/- and cancellation of the said examination. However, the principal reserves the right to take
decision.
a) Candidates are to observe strictly the rules laid down by the University or the Council mentioned over leaf of
the Admit Card. The same rule will be applicable even for college examinations.
b) The candidates should bring their identity Cards and Admit Cards to the examination positively. If any person is found impersonating for any other
candidate he/she will be handed over to the law and order authorities to be dealt with under the provisions of Cr. P.C.
c) No candidates shall leave the examination hall before the expiration of one hour after the commencement of the examination. Temporary absence
from the hall for more then 2/3 minutes is a violation of examination rules and discipline. Such candidate will be punished as the Centre Superintendent
deemed fit.
d) Candidates should not make any nosie, catcalls, or disturbance in the hall or misbehave with the invigilators. Such cases will be seriously viewed
and it may amount to expulsion by the Centre Superintendent then and there.
e) The candidates should not have any other material with them except pen, pencil or instrument box. Those in possession of incriminating materials
will be booked under Malpractice cases and then law will take its own course to deal with such cases.
f) No candidate is allowed to appear any exam without prescribed college uniform.
g) Infringement of the above rules or misbehaviour will render a candidate liable for expulsion form. Examination hall or such other punishment as
the Principal may deem fit.

University Examinations
The University conducts three examinations for the entire course of +3 Degree. The first examination will be held at
the end of First year of 3 year Degree course. The Second Examination shall be held at the end of the second year, and the Final Examination in the
Third year. No supplementary examination will be held. Students are allowed to clear the subjects in which they get less then 30% by back paper
system.
Admission to University Examination:
a) No person whose name has not been entered in the Register shall be permitted to appear at any University Examination.
b) Every candidate for an examination of the University shall produce evidence of having previously passed the qualifying examination if any,
prescribed by the law of the University.
c) He shall also unless exempted by special order of the Syndicate, may be either councilor in accordance with the Regulation, produce in the form
prescribed by the Syndicate the certificate of attendance required by the Regulation.
d) A candidate-sent up for the University examination by a college shall produce certificate of
(a) good conduct
(b) diligent study
(c) having satisfactorily passed the college periodical Examination and other Test.
