The College, with the initiative of the people of Ganjam town, was opened on 7th August, 1969 by Sri R.P Padhy, the then Vice Chancellor
of Berhampur University.

Brief History

The College, with the initiative of the people of Ganjam town, was opened on 7th August, 1969 by Sri R.P Padhy, the then Vice Chancellor of Berhampur University. Sri Prahallad Panda , M.A. was the first Principal of the college. Mahanta Sri Raghunath Ramanuja Das and Sri Narayan Panda, Ex M.L.A. were, respectively, the President and the Secretary of the Governing Body. Originally started as an Institution for imparting education at Intermediate level in Humanities, the college has, during the years, developed into a full fledged degree college with the all three faculties-Arts, Science and Commerce. At present the college has provision for teaching Honours level in all faculties. The College started in the Subhadra Memorial Block. Over the years, due to the untiring efforts of the successive Principal Sri Balaram Sahoo, Sri Devaraj Panigrahi, Major B.T. Reddy and Dr. M.R. Bhatacharya more Blocks for the Commerce, Science and Arts were added to the college.
The Commerce Block and the Auditorium Hall have come up, thanks to the generous donations from the Banguru Brothers with the financial assistance from the U.G.C the N.R.S.C block was completed which was opened by the then Chief Minister Smt. Nandini Satapathy and the library of the college was substantially improved. A Laboratory building of Science Stream also has come up with financial support from the salt department of Govt. of India and State Government. The library possesses around 40,000 books and subscribes a large number of Magazines and periodicals. With the help of the T.R.W Deptt. of the State Government, the college has a 40 seated hostel besides a well equipped library. The college has an auditorioum and a cycle stand to cater to the needs of the students.
