Brief History of the Department: The Department of Logic and Philosophy was established in the year 1971-72 for providing pre-degree and under graduate degree in Arts stream. It always envisions motivating the students of the locality for higher education and excellence in Logic and Philosophy for getting employment and higher aims in life. Mr. Govinda Panda, a man vision of this locality was the first faculty member of the Department. Since then, a number of illustrious persons have served in the Department leaving a mark in the impressionable mind of the students. Honors in Philosophy was granted in the year 2015-16 with 16 seats. This department has produced a large numbers of students who are engaged variously in teaching, research and other fields in both Government as well as private sectors. The Department is now headed by Dr. Simanchala Bholo who has near about thirty years of teaching experience to his credit along with his scholarship in Buddhist philosophy.

The Department has been organizing seminars and workshops on a regular basis to encourage Students to present seminar papers related to the philosophical issues relevant to the present-day society.

    The vision of the department is to achieve higher standard of the academic performance to provide quality education to student for acquiring knowledge and skills in the subject to compete the challenges of the job market and acquire higher education in different institution. It is to train the minds of the students to be neither pessimistic nor optimistic but to adopt a middle path and that is to be realistic.

  • Mission

    The Mission of the department is to enhance the academic environment and to prepare the student for the acquire applied knowledge of philosophy to ensure the employability and self employment. Also, it is our mission to provide the knowledge of practical spirituality and applied ethics to students for building of their personality.
